How to make a Happy Home? In an age where the status of the environment is an ever present topic of study and discussion, we naturally extend that concern to our own homes. How can we make a place a happy home?
In this first excerpt under the Happy Home Banner, we will be exploring some of the basic issues that every home owner will first encounter and how to go about resolving them.
Often we question is the air clean enough?
Is the room too hot or too cold?
Does the space get dusty often or does it get too dry or damp easily?
The air quality in a space can significantly influence how comfortable we feel in our home environment.

Air too Dry in the Happy Home?
One of the frequent conversations we have with condo owners is how dry the air can get in their units, especially in the higher floors.
This can be particularly worrisome during the winter months, when the cold air can cause our skin to become very dry and chapped.
Without constantly bathing in skin lotion, the appliance we depend on is the humidifier, which has become an important part of making our happy home.
There are many makes, models, styles, and colors of humidifiers, to fit any type of room in a home.
Air too Moist in parts of the Home?
The opposite can also be true. For some time when I once owned a townhouse, I often complain about how damp the air felt inside during the warm and wet season.
This is a health concern if there is any build up of mold and/or mildew. Especially in the basement and to a lesser degree on the main floor.
There were times in the south facing kitchen when the sun was at its most intense, the kitchen would feel like a sauna. Opening the patio door didn’t help one bit.
After some discussions with the neighbors who had similar issues, the solution was to install a dehumidifier in with the furnace in the basement
In this way, the air in the entire house circulates through the air ducts and through the dehumidifier which extracts the excess moisture and drains it off.
This brought the moisture level back to more comfortable and manageable levels. But there were times when I still needed a smaller portable unit to manage the lower levels in order to prevent overburdening the furnace fan unit.
Getting Dusty too often in certain places?
Another important issue is how quickly dust accumulates on surfaces throughout the home.
This is a concern of how clean the air can be and how worrisome it is for those with breathing issues.
My wife, initially, was only concern with the constant dusting and wiping throughout the week, but we eventually purchased an effective air purifier so as to keep the dust to a more manageable and breathable level.
This also gave us more peace of mind as we notice earlier that we had begun to exhibit some allergic reactions to the dust.
With the air purifier, most of the dust that use to accumulate on the tables and floors, now goes through the filter in the air purifier, cleaning and improving the air all the better!
Now that makes for a happy home!
Itís nearly impossible to find educated people about this subject, however, you seem like you know what youíre talking about! Thanks
Right here is the perfect webpage for everyone who would like to understand this topic. You understand a whole lot its almost tough to argue with you (not that I really will need toÖHaHa). You certainly put a fresh spin on a subject that has been discussed for a long time. Wonderful stuff, just excellent!
Hi israel-lady.co.il,
Thank you for your comment.
Having lived in a tropical country, then moving to Canada does provide some different learning
perspectives on home conditions…and I’m still learning…
Anyway, hope the article was of some benefit to you.
